John 3:36 - Proof of Salavation

John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Many people debate if a person is saved or not by looking at their works.  They also can debate that must a person do to become saved, or if a person can lose salvation or not.  John the Baptist in John 3 answers this question and makes it easy for us to know the answer to this question of how to become saved. John is explaining to his disciples about Christ, and in verse 36, makes things clear.  To have a relation with the Son, all we have to do is believe in Him.  That is it.  It is not very difficult, there are no special prayers, chants, works, or church you need to attend.  All we have to do is believe in Jesus.  This is such a hard concept for many to grasp however.  It's hard because people are taught they have to present themselves as pure and holy to Christ.  No where in the Bible this is shown however.  Jesus went to sinners and they accepted Him, just as they were.  some examples are the lame man who had been lame for 38 years . Jesus went to him and healed him WHERE HE LAYED (John 5:1-17).  Also the woman with the blood issue.  She did not stop bleeding before coming to Jesus, She came to Jesus for his healing power.  (Luke 8:43-47)

The second part of the verse ; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” Explains to us what will happen to us when we don't believe.  Basically we are going to Hell if we do not believe in Jesus as our Savior.  There is not written saying if you once believed you are going to Heaven.  Simply put, If you do not believe, you will not be going to see Heaven.   Matthew 7:21-23 says “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’  And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’  Just because we know the name of God, does not mean anything if we do not believe in Christ.  We can do all these great works, and if we do not believe that Christ is our Savior, then we have done nothing.

Basically, if you are struggling with believing in Christ, spend some time with Him, and ask him what in your life you are holding onto that is keeping you away from HIM.  God will speak to you, if you are ready to hear what He has to say to you.

In Christ,

-Kevin
